Moses Simon has attracted a lot of clubs in recent years, but he has ended all the speculation about his future
Super Eagles forward Moses Simon has penned a two-year contract extension with French club Nantes despite interests from bigger clubs, Soccernet.ng reports.
Simon joined Nantes in 2020 from Spanish side Levante in a deal worth €5million, and the Nigeria international has impressed. Simon has been talismanic for the club, registering 29 goals and 31 assists in 163 appearances.
Following his consistent brilliance, Simon has attracted some big clubs in France and outside the Ligue 1. Lyon, Nice, and Lille have all been linked to the 28-year-old. Leeds United were also linked with Simon before they got relegated, but the move fell through.
Simon’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and it was looking increasingly likely that he would leave the club this summer.
However, Simon’s admirers may now look elsewhere, as the Super Eagles winger has sealed a two-year extension at Nantes.
The club revealed this development via a post on their X (formerly Twitter) page.
This season, Simon has registered three goals and five assists in the French Ligue 1. The former Levante man was in Nigeria’s 40-man list for the AFCON, and he seems poised to make the cut when Jose Peseiro names the full squad.
