Arsenal, Chelsea get the snub as Africa’s Best Player Victor Osimhen commits to Napoli – report

The Nigeria international is one of the most sought-after players on the surface of the earth, but he remains steadfast in his loyalty to the Neapolitans

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will not move to Arsenal, Chelsea, or any other club during the winter transfer transfer window in January, Soccernet.ng reports.

After a record-breaking campaign in which he scored 26 goals to lead Napoli to a first Scudetto in 33 years, Osimhen was expected to make a multimillion euros to one of Europe’s biggest clubs in the summer.

Several big clubs, including Paris Saint Germain, reportedly tried to sign Osimhen, while Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr also made a mouthwatering offer for the Super Eagles forward.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are believed to be among Osimhen’s biggest admirers in the Premier League.

However, the Nigerian forward opted to remain in Naples and kicked off negotiations to have his contract with Napoli extended.

With Osimhen’s contract expiring in 2025, Napoli were keen to get the deal sorted before the former Lille man entered the final year of his current contract.

After a long-drawn saga, Napoli and Osimhen have finally found a breakthrough in negotiations and agreed to an extension to the player’s contract.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen is happy with the terms of his new deal and will ink the document in the coming hours.

Key elements of the new deal confirm an extension by a year on his current contract, a huge salary rise, and a release clause.
Osimhen will also stay with Napoli until the summer.

With Osimhen’s future settled, Napoli will look to revive their attempt at defending the title they won with flair in May.
