“Anthony Martial does absolutely nothing”- Chelsea legend Mikel Obi rips into Manchester United striker

Martial arrived at Manchester United with a lot of promise, but has just fallen short

Former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi has criticized Anthony Martial for his consistently poor performances for Manchester United, Soccernet.ng reports.

Martial joined Manchester United from Monaco in 2015 for €60million. At the time, the Frenchman was one of the most promising youngsters in the world after an outstanding season with Monaco. He also won the Golden Boy Award at the time.

However, since he arrived at the club, he has not reached the heights expected of him. The 28-year-old striker has spent eight year at Old Trafford, but he has not impressed much. He hold a record of 90 goals and 55 assists in 317 appearances for the Red Devils.

This season, Manchester United have been poor, and Martial has not been able to help them.

Former Chelsea star Mikel has been disappointed by Martial’s performances, as he believes that the Frenchman does not put in enough effort.

“Martial is one player who I never tend to understand what he does at a football club,” Mikel said on ObiOne Podcast.

“He comes in, he just walks around the pitch, he moans, he shakes his head, and you’re looking at him at and saying, ‘do something.’

“At least if you’re not playing well, kick somebody or start a fight(laughs). Do something or show that you care. Anthony Martial does absolutely nothing. Every time I see him on the pitch, I’m like f@@k me!

Manchester United were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday after losing to Bayern Munich. Martial did not feature in the fixture.
