Akor Adams: Fulham eye West Ham and AC Milan target for January move

The queue of suitors behind the former Nigeria youth international is increasing after his impressive start to lift in France

Fulham are exploring the possibility of securing Montpellier’s in-form striker, Akor Adams, in the upcoming January transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

Raul Jimenez, recruited to replace Aleksandar Mitrovic, has struggled to meet expectations, registering just four goals in 16 league appearances since joining Craven Cottage.

In response, manager Marco Silva actively seeks attacking reinforcements and has identified Adams as a potential target.

Football Insider reports that Fulham has dispatched scouts to observe the 23-year-old Nigerian forward, who has made a significant impact in Ligue 1 since his summer transfer from Lillestrom, scoring seven goals in 17 appearances for Montpellier.

Fulham’s need for attacking prowess became evident after Mitrovic’s departure to Al-Hilal in the summer, leaving a goal-scoring vacuum that Jimenez, Carlos Vinicius, and Rodrigo Muniz have struggled to fill, tallying only six goals combined.

Marco Silva’s reliance on wingers and midfielders to find the net underscores the urgency for a reliable striker to bolster Fulham’s offensive capabilities.

Akor Adams, standing at 6ft 3ins, possesses the attributes of a traditional target man, fitting seamlessly into Silva’s tactical framework.

His proficiency in the final third could address Fulham’s goal-scoring challenges and contribute to their pursuit of a top-half finish in the Premier League.

Fulham are, however, not the only club interested in Adams, as West Ham United are also believed to have placed the Nigerian striker on their transfer wishlist.

Italian giants AC Milan are also monitoring the situation around the former Lillestrom forward as Serie A side shop around for a long-term replacement for Frenchman Olivier Giroud.

Montpellier paid less than five million euros to sign Adams in the summer, but the striker’s valuation, as per Transfermarkt, has risen to more than double that figure.
