Osimhen came on to help Napoli secure three points in Bergamo against Atalanta, assisting Elijif Elmas for the winner last night.
Chelsea have identified Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen as their primary target for the winter transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 24-year-old scored twenty six goals in the league for Napoli last season, earning him Ballon d’Or and FIFA best awards nominations.
Several top clubs were interested in the Scudetto winner, but Napoli were unwilling to sell their talisman, and rather, offered Osimhen a new contract.
The Nigerian however hasn’t put pen to paper, as contract talks stalled and with his current contract expiring in 2025, it is not out of question for the Naples hierarchy to consider selling the ex-Lille man.
According to Telegraph, Chelsea are keen to bring Osimhen to The Stamford Bridge as early as January , with a bid expected to beat Enzo Fernandez’s record transfer of £106 million.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side also want to use Kalidou Koulibaly as a point of contact to lure Osimhen away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, as the two players have a great relationship.
In news revealed by CalcioNews24, Osimhen has also handed a transfer request to the Napoli hierarchy, meaning his time with the Gli Azzuri will soon be coming to an end.
Chelsea’s current attacking options are Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja, but the duo haven’t been able to get Chelsea into the top half of the English Premier League this season.
The club believe Osimhen will be the perfect fit for their attack and a central figure up top. One that has been absent since the departure of Didier Drogba.
