“Some reactions make me laugh” – Dessers responds to critics after tough start to life in Scotland

Cyriel Dessers joined Rangers from Cremonese this summer and has scored five goals in his first nineteen games for the club after a tough start.

Super Eagles striker, Cryriel Kolawole Dessers, has responded to some of the criticisms he’s faced since he moved from the Italian Serie A to Rangers, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian striker joined Rangers from Cremonese in August for a fee of about £4.3 million, but he has had a slow start to life in Scotland.

The 28-year-old scored his third league goal after coming off the bench in Rangers’ 5-0 maul of Dundee F.C. and is looking to score more goals after receiving loads of criticism.

However, the striker who scored 20 goals for Feyenoord in the 2021/2022 season has admitted he has looked far away from his critics and is beginning to find his feet and adapt to life in Glasgow.

The striker mentioned some criticisms are uncalled for and unfair, as not many people understand his story and where he’s coming from.

“Some reactions even make me laugh. First of all, I think many people underestimate what it is like to move to another country. My stats this season are not bad, but I don’t think it is great either. Before the season, I set a goal of 25 goal contributions, so I’m on target in that regard,” the striker said in quotes revealed by the Daily Record.

Additionally, the striker feels the level of football in the Scottish level is something he’s not used to and admitted he isn’t at his best, yet.

“I have not yet reached my absolute top form, and that’s something I work hard for every day. In terms of general level, the Belgian and Dutch competitions are also better than the Scottish and of course Serie A is a different level, but there are hardly any easy matches here,” the ex-Genk striker added.

The Nigerian scored his third league goal on Wednesday and is willing to push himself to reach his goal of twenty-five goal contributions at the end of the season.
