Dessers scored in his last game for Rangers, and he continued his form at Livingston
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored the opener for Rangers in their 2-0 victory over Livingston in the Scottish Premiership, Soccernet reports.
After beating Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday, Rangers returned to Premiership action against Livingston. Dessers was a substitute in that game, but he returned to the lineup at Livingston.
The Gers were the favourites to win, and they stamped their authority on the game quite early on. They thought they had gone ahead in the 14th minute, but Connor Goldson’s goal was ruled out for offside.
In the 23rd minute, they won a penalty, but James Tavernier’s strike just hit the upright in what was a big let-off for Livingston.
Nonetheless, Dessers was there to ensure that Rangers’ pressure paid off. The Nigerian striker latched on to a pass from Lawrence and sent a low strike into the left of Livingston’s goal post.
Rangers had a great game, but they could only manage to score two goals as Tavernier scored the second from the spot in the 75th minute.
Dessers had 61 minutes of action, and he registered 28 touches and four goal attempts.
It eventually ended 2-0 at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
