Osimhen has missed Napoli’s last three games because of an injury, but they have not lost
Former Inter Milan striker Arturo Di Napoli has asserted that Napoli have good strikers who can comfortably replace Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen has been one of the best players for Napoli in the last two years. Last season, the Nigerian striker was key to their Serie A triumph, scoring 26 goals in the league.
He also helped them to the quarterfinal final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time after finding the net five times.
Osimhen started the season well, scoring six goals in his first ten games for Napoli. Unfortunately for the 24-year-old striker, he suffered a muscle injury while on international duty with Nigeria last month.
He was ruled out for 40 days and has missed Napoli’s three games since the international break.
However, Napoli have been winning games in his absence, as Giacomo Raspadori and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have stepped up to the plate.
The Partenopeans play Salernitana this weekend at the Stadio Arechi, but Osimhen would still be sidelined as he still has at least three weeks to return to full fitness.
However, retired Inter Milan man Di Napoli is confident that the Serie A champions have enough firepower to see off Salernitana.
“The absence of Osimhen remains very difficult for Napoli, but the Azzurri have an extremely high level of forwards,” Di Napoli said per Napoli Magazine.
“Raspadori is not making us regret the Nigerian, he is showing good skills and also a feeling with the goal.”
Last season, when Osimhen was out injured, Giovanni Simeone and Raspadori were brilliant, but they soon lost form. Coach Rudi Garcia would hope that his side keeps winning games because his job is already on the line.
