The former Levante forward is one of Nigeria’s top-performing footballers in France, and he is showing no signs of stopping any time soon
Nantes FC’s winger, Moses Simon, has clinched the coveted Player of the Month award for October, Soccernet.ng reports.
The French club announced Simon as the winner of the award on their official website.
The Super Eagles forward surpassed his peers, Marcus Mawkus, Pedro Chirivella, and Florent Mollet, in a closely contested fan vote to secure the honour.
Earning 39.67% of the total votes, Simon emerged as the top Canary of the Month, leaving his competitors trailing in his wake.
Florent Mollet trailed with 28.6%, while Pedro Chirivella secured 20.75%, and Marcus Coco settled with 10.98% of the vote share.
Simon’s impactful contributions on the field throughout October significantly bolstered Nantes’ performance.
In the four games he featured, the team won in two encounters, suffering defeats in the remaining two. While his goal and assist tally for the month was modest, his pivotal contribution in Nantes’ 2-0 triumph over Montpellier highlighted his influence.
Notably, Simon’s overall season performance boasts a commendable record, encompassing two crucial goals and an impressive five assists across ten appearances in the esteemed Ligue 1.
Simon also impressed for the Super Eagles in October as he helped Nigeria pick up a 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia and hand out a 3-2 defeat to Mozambique. The 28-year-old winger scored the winning goal from the penalty spot against Mozambique.
Simon will likely be a crucial component of the Super Eagles squad to face Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this month.
