The former Flying Eagles forward has been a sensation in the French top flight this season, and he continues to dream about his first international call-up
Montpellier striker Akor Jerome Adams is confident his time to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles will come sooner than later, Soccernet.ng reports.
After arriving in Montpellier from Norway’s Lillestrom, Adams has been on fire in the French Ligue 1.
The former Flying Eagles attacker has smashed home seven league goals for Montpellier, the best in the elite division behind only PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, who has 13.
Adams’ brilliance has only been showcased at club level, though, as he has not been given the chance to replicate his displays for the national team.
Nigeria arguably have the best attacking lineup in the world at the moment, with several strikers scoring regularly in Italy (Victor Osimhen), England (Taiwo Awoniyi), Germany (Victor Boniface), and France (Terem Moffi).
The Super Eagles are preparing in Uyo for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe without star forward Osimhen.
Despite the unavailability of injured Osimhen, Peseiro still named five quality strikers for the games, with no room for in-form Adams and Onuachu.
Despite being disappointed with his omission, Adams believes he can still make Nigeria’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
“I think that representing your national team is the dream of every little kid growing up in their country,” Adams said, as per Allezpaillade.
“That’s my case. But today, we have to wait less than two months before the start of the competition. I am mainly focused on my matches with Montpellier. It will come when it comes. And we will notify the club at that time.”
Based on the strength of Nigeria’s attacking options, the Super Eagles will be among the favourites to claim a fourth AFCON title in Ivory Coast.
