Super Eagles legend, John Utaka, notably played in Lens, Rennes, Montpellier, Portsmouth, among other clubs, was known for his pacy ability at his prime
Former Super Eagles star John Utaka has praised Nigerian forward Akor Adams, highlighting the quality he brings to the Montpellier team, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 23-year-old made a move to Ligue 1 during the summer transfer window, switching from Norwegian side Lillestrom for a reported fee of around €4.5 million.
Since then, he’s been in top form, securing seven Ligue 1 goals in the 2023-24 season and earning accolades from his compatriot, who manages the club’s youth team.
Utaka emphasized that the former Flying Eagles forward is an intelligent striker capable of quick adaptation. He also noted Adams’ ambition to progress and his understanding of his role within the club.
“He’s a good boy, intelligent, and he adapts quickly. He wants to progress. He knows his role here. He knows that his work will be useful to the team. If he is aware of it, that is the most important thing,” Utaka commented.
With his impressive goal-scoring record, there’s hope for Adams to receive a call-up to the Super Eagles, especially with Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury setback in the Nigerian national team.
