Ex-Chelsea star confident that Osimhen will join Premier League club

Osimhen will be out of contract in 2025, but he is unwilling to sign a contract renewal with Napoli

Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson is confident that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will eventually join Chelsea, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen is currently one of the best strikers in the world. He has turned the head of some of the top clubs in the world following his superb performances for Napoli.

Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, and Bayern Munich were all linked with the Nigeria striker last summer, but Napoli refused to let him leave. Instead, they have been in talks with him to extend his contract at the club.

However, Osimhen has refused to sign a new deal. And with just over 18 months left on his contract, some top teams are looking to swoop in for him. Osimhen is a big fan of the Premier League, and Chelsea is a probable destination.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Johnson is confident Osimhen will eventually join the Blues.

“Regardless of what’s happening at Napoli, I believe Victor [Osimhen] would want to join Chelsea anyway,” Johnson said per Chelstransfer.

“However, Victor will be kicking himself that this move could happen when Chelsea are currently in transition. Of course, they’re a big team, and they’re going to bounce back eventually.

“But as long as Victor is willing to wait 18 months or so for that to happen, then I’m sure he’d still want to sign for them in January.”

With his current situation, it is unlikely that Napoli will let Osimhen leave for free. The club owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is known to be an astute businessman, and he would likely look to make a profit if Osimhen leaves.
