Barcelona monitoring two Nigerian strikers as replacement for Lewandowski

Lewandowski’s time at Barcelona is slowly reaching a halt, and they are searching for a viable replacement

Super Eagles strikers Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface are two players that Barcelona are monitoring as potential replacements for Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, Soccernet reports.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich last year in a deal worth €50million. He has been quite impressive for the Blaugrana since he joined, scoring 33 goals in 46 appearances. He was key to Barcelona’s success in Laliga, scoring 23 goals.

This season, he has started well, scoring six goals in eleven games. But he has not been the sleeky, deadly, goal poacher that he was at Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski’s time at Barcelona seems to be gliding to a halt, and the club would be looking to make a marquee signing as Ferran Torres has not proven reliable in front of goal.

According to Barca Insider, Osimhen and Boniface are the two options that the Blaugrana are looking at.

Osimhen has been superb at Napoli for the last two years, helping his side to their first Scudetto in 33 years.

Meanwhile, Boniface has been superb for Bayer Leverkusen since he joined the club during the summer transfer window.

Osimhen would be the more expensive option as Napoli value him at over €120million. But Boniface could go for way less as Bayer Leverkusen paid €20.5million for his services just three months ago.

  • “Looks like Barcelona is shopping for a striker like it’s a clearance sale! I just hope they don’t end up with a ‘gently used’ one from the bargain bin!”
