“A move in January is difficult” – Transfer expert gives update on Osimhen situation

Victor Osimhen is unlikely to sign a new contract that will extend his stay in Naples beyond 2025 with rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Popular transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has hinted that a January move away from Napoli is unlikely for Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen, 24, turned down a big money move from Saudi Arabia to stay in Naples but looks to have fallen out with the club after a video surfaced on the club’s social media account, mocking him for missing a penalty.

His contract also expires in 2025, and the Serie A golden boot winner is yet to renew, fueling the hopes of an exit from the Scudetto winners.

According to Fabrizio, Osimhen’s dream move is a move to the English Premier League and several top clubs are involved.

“So, while I would not rule Saudi out, the priority, from what I’m hearing, is still Europe. The player is still dreaming of Premier League football, it’s always been his biggest dream. That’s why clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal are keeping an eye on the situation,” Fabrizio said in quotes revealed by Caught Offside.

Fabrizio added that Napoli will not be  willing to let the Super Eagles striker leave in January, citing the transfer as very difficult.

“Chelsea have been linked again and again with Osimhen, but from what I’m hearing a move in January is still very difficult. Napoli don’t want to sell in the middle of the season,” the Italian journalist added.

Osimhen returned from a five-week hamstring injury to help Napoli secure three points in Bergamo last weekend.
