Watch: Why I post funny memes on X– Victor Boniface

Boniface has become famous for his brilliance in the Bundesliga, but he has also been turning heads because of his social media posts

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has admitted that he posts memes on X(formerly Twitter because he enjoys it, Soccernet reports.

Boniface has been a sensation since he arrived at Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. The 22-year-old has found the net nine times and assisted three goals in his ten competitive appearances for the club.

However, aside from the attention he has gotten from the pitch, Boniface has gotten a lot of traction on social media.

Since the Super Eagles striker arrived at Bayer Leverkusen, he has become a reliable source for memes and funny videos. Boniface has developed the habit of posting some of his goals and pictures on Twitter with funny captions.

This has seen his online followers increase astronomically since his move to the Bundesliga. Boniface’s style is quite similar to what Napoli star Victor Osimhen used to do, and he has revealed the reason for this habit.

“To be honest, I didn’t know Victor[Osimhen] was doing memes. I knew he was doing it on Instagram, but on Twitter, because I am not really interested in using it,” Boniface told Oma Akatugba.

“I had a few friends who were saying I need to do a lot on Twitter, but I told them it was not my thing.

“Before I started posting memes, I had 122 followers at the time. But after my first post “givers never lack”, I had to delete it because my followers increased to 3,000.

“I was scared, but my friend told me to post it again. After posting it, when I woke up the next day, I saw almost 25,000 followers, I was surprised.

Boniface is clearly becoming a fan favourite, even among Nigerian football fans. If he keeps churning out the numbers, he could become one of the country’s biggest names in the next few years.
