Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf scored the opener for Royal Antwerp, but a spirited second half performance ensured that Porto fought back to win 4-1, Soccernet reports.
Antwerp returned to action on the continent on Wednesday when they played host to Porto at the Bosuilstadion. Going into the fixture, the home side had lost their first two game, while Porto had three points from two matches.
Yusuf started in the middle of the park for his side with the task of breaking down Porto attacks. He did his job well, with Antwerp bossing the possession and creating chances in the first half. Eventually, Antwerp got their goal in the the minute Yusuf was at the heart of it as he scored his first-ever Champions League goal.
The Nigerian midfielder was first to catch a rebound in the box, and he fired it into the net to make it 1-0.
Antwerp saw out their lead till halftime, but they were in shambles after the break. Porto did not have the services of Zaidu Sanusi becasue of an injury.
However, they put up a remarkable comeback, with Evanilson netting a hattrick and Stephen Eustaquio adding his to ensure it ended 4-1.
Chidera Ejuke was introduced into the game in the 77th minute, but he did not offer much in Antwerp’s attack.
