Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala dedicates Barcelona goals to late award-winning rapper

The Nigerian international is Africa’s most successful female footballer in UEFA Women’s Champions League history, with two winners’ medals in three years

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has honoured late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known by his stage name, Mohbad, Soccernet.ng reports.

Oshoala smashed home her first brace of the season to power Barcelona Women to an impressive 6-1 victory over Granada on Saturday.

Mohbad, who passed away under contentious circumstances on September 12, was remembered by Oshoala as she dedicated her two goals to the artist. The police are currently conducting an investigation into his death.

In the 80th minute of the match at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, Oshoala scored her first goal of the game, which was Barcelona’s fifth.

In a heartfelt celebration, she revealed a vest under her jersey featuring the image of Mohbad, affectionately known as “Imole.”

Two minutes later, Oshoala netted her second goal of the evening, calmly slotting the ball into the net from a precise pass by Mariona Caldentey. Despite a consolation goal by Granada, Barcelona secured a commanding win.

On her Instagram page after the encounter, Oshoala offered her tribute to the late award-winning rapper, writing, “A double for Imole ⚽⚽🫡… Keep resting young king 🙏🏽❤️ #LightBoy.”

Oshoala, who boasts three goals in five league games this season, had an exceptional year last season, scoring a career-high 21 goals.

Her feat contributed to Barcelona’s triumph in the Primera División Femenina for the third time since Oshoala joined the team in 2019.
