Super Eagles star Osayi-Samuel lauds former Manchester United ace after Fenerbahce’s thriller against Hatayspor

Bright Osayi-Samuel was among the goalscorers as the Yellow-Navy Blues maintained their perfect start to the season

Super Eagles full-back Bright Osayi-Samuel has showered encomium on Fenerbahçe teammate Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos ‘Fred’ after the club’s win over Hatayspor, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osayi-Samuel and Fred were involved as Fenerbahce claimed a 4-2 win over Hatayspor at the Ülker Stadyumu Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Spor Kompleksi in İstanbul.

Sebastian Szymański opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Osayi-Samuel fired home to double the hosts’ advantage eight minutes later.

Fred set up Edin Džeko for Fener’s third goal as the Yellow-Navy Blues headed into the halftime break with a healthy lead.

Hatayspor, who had Super Eagles rising star Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in their starting lineup, scored twice in the second half, but İrfan Kahveci netted Fenerbahçe’s fourth goal to seal the win.

After the encounter, Osayi-Samuel revealed his admiration for Fred and what he has given to the Turkish side since he arrived from Manchester United in the summer.

“Fred is a very experienced player,” Osayi-Samuel said, per Fotospor.

“He played in the biggest teams in the world. He reflects on his experiences on the field. He is a very good leader on the field. He gives 110 percent in every match. In fact, everyone needs to do this for us to win.”

Fenerbahçe have been perfect this season, as the Yellow Canaries have won all nine league games, placing them atop the Turkish Süper Lig with 27 points.
