Leicester’s League Cup ambition came to an end last week after their loss to Liverpool, but are in a good spot in the Championships, with 24 points from their first nine games.
Leicester’s fine form in the SkyBet Championships has seen them get all three points in all but one of their league games this term.
Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has praised his teammates and the coaching staff of the club for an all-around captivating performance in the team’s 4-1 win over Blackburn, Soccernet.ng reports.
In a captivating clash between two sides that have previously won the English Premier League, Leicester City came out on top, away from home, with Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi heavily involved in the team’s goals.
Wout Faes opened the scoring for the Foxes inside four minutes, and not long after, in a man-of-the-match performance, Ndidi set up club legend, Jamie Vardy for the Blues second of the game.
Kelechi Iheanacho scored his second league goal of the season, from another spot-kick after Jannik Vestergaard was pulled inside the box. He side-footed his penalty into the left corner of the goal, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
A delicate chip from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall secured the eighth league win of the season for Enzo Maresca’s men, but Iheanacho maintained it was not an easy task, with respect to the scoreline.
“We had a tough time in the first half. We suffered a lot, but we were up in the first half 2-1. It was a strong game, but in the second half, we controlled more, and we nailed them in the counterattacks and got the goals that we wanted,” the Nigerian told the club’s official website.
Speaking on his team’s all-round performance, the 26-year-old heaped praise on everyone who made sure the team ticked, citing Ndidi’s creative abilities and Vardy’s lethal finish.
“It was a great team performance, good team play. Wilf did a great pass to the back post for Jamie and you know what he’s like. It’s a great finish with his left foot as well,” the Super Eagles striker added.
