‘Ronaldo or Messi’- 2017-18 DFB-Pokal medalist Hradecky snubs football greats for Super Eagles star

The controversy surrounding Ronaldo and Messi has persisted given that the football world will always remember them for their accomplishments while they were at the top of their game

Bayer Leverkusen’s Finnish goalkeeper, Lukas Hradecky, has chosen Super Eagles star and club teammate, Victor Boniface, over former Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and Al-Hilal star Cristiano Ronaldo, Soccernet.ng reports.

The debate about Ronaldo and Messi as the best players in the world continues to captivate the football community, given their immense achievements and influence in the sport.

However, the choice of the 2017-18 DFB-Pokal medalist may surprise some, as he preferred the energetic Nigerian star Boniface.

While Boniface may not have reached the heights of these football legends, his impressive start in the Bundesliga has garnered attention from fans and fellow players.

He has scored seven goals in seven domestic league appearances and was named Bundesliga Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month in his debut month in the German league.

This outstanding performance has raised his chances of a call-up to the Super Eagles team, and it appears to have caught the attention of his teammate Hradecky, who chose him over the football legends when asked by a young Leverkusen fan during a question-and-answer session.

“Ronaldo or Messi?” the young fan asked, to which Hradecky replied, “[Victor] Boniface.”

Boniface is currently with the Nigeria national team for their friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

He played a role in Nigeria’s 6-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe in the last 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game, and he aims to contribute further to secure an exciting victory against the Arabian team.
