Rasheedat Ajibade and Asisat Oshoala combine to help Super Falcons defeat Ethiopia – Player Ratings

The Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated Ethiopia 4-0 in Abuja after a 1-1 draw at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Ethiopia in a bid to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in France, Soccernet.ng reports.

A brace from Rasheedat Ajibade and goals from Asisat Oshoala and Uchenna Kanu sealed an emphatic win for the ladies to help them to the next round of qualification.

Soccernet.ng rates the performance of the Super Falcons after their outing in Abuja against Ethiopia.

Chiamaka Nnadozie 7.5/10: The Paris F.C. goalkeeper saved the only clear-cut chance the away side made from a free-kick. Other than that, she didn’t have much to do, and as always, she remained calm in goal.

Blessing Demehin 7.0/10: Demehin was also solid in the defence. She didn’t have much to do at the back, but she showed her great ball-playing skills with vision and composure to create the first goal of the game.

Akudo Ogbonna 6.5/10: Partnered with Blessing Demehin in central defence for the second time, Akudo looked more composed and confident on the ball than in the first leg and barely lost a tackle.

Michelle Alozie 7.0/10: Back in the right-back spot, she faced a tough time in the first half against the opposition winger, but got into her groove as time went on, and could’ve gotten herself a goal late in the game.

Rofiat Imuran 6.5/10: The Stade de Reims left-back came on as a substitute in the reverse fixture, but combined well today on the left-hand side of the attack with Uchenna Kanu.

Peace Efih 7.5/10: The FC Kiryat Gat midfielder had an entirely different performance from her first-leg outing. She linked up well with the defence, showed good passing accuracy and barely lost a duel.

Toni Payne 6.5/10: Payne had a decent game. She took the ball in her stride for most of the first half but went quiet as time went on.

Rasheedat Ajibade 9/10: The scorer of the equalizer in the first leg took the game by the scruff of its neck and scored a brace. The captain on the evening didn’t start brightly, but she found her groove and danced to the tune, producing a stellar performance.

Asisat Oshoala 8.5/10: Asisat Oshoala had a much better outing than she did in Addis-Ababa. A goal and an assist for the Ballon d’Or nominee would do her confidence with the Super Falcons a whole world of good.

Ifeoma Onumonu 6/10: It was an evening to forget for the Gotham F.C. winger. Given the team’s performance, Onumonu’s game should have been much better, as she never seemed to get going.

Uchenna Kanu 8/10: Another player who had a point to prove after a disappointing performance last time out. She scored a goal and set up another in a much-improved performance.

The substitutes.

Nicole Payne:  Didn’t do too much when she came on.

Folorunsho Comfort: Came off the bench for the injured Demehin and she struggled to impress.

Rinsola Babajide:  Didn’t have the chance to build on her impressive debut in the first leg as she came in late into the game.
Esther Onyenezide: Though a late substitute,  she showed glimpses of her quality with her flair which was too much to handle for the tiring Ethiopians.
