Paris 2024: Ethiopia land in Nigeria ahead of Olympics qualifiers reverse fixture

The Lucy will be looking to spring up an upset, and they have arrived in Nigeria for the game

The Ethiopian female team have arrived in Nigeria ahead of the second leg of their 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers, Soccernet reports.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons forced the Lucy to a 1-1 draw when both teams faced in the first leg at the Abebe Bikila Stadium last Wednesday.

Both teams will square off at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday for a place in the next round of the qualifiers.

Ahead of the game, a 35-person Ethiopian delegation arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The Lucy would be hoping they can spring up an upset on nine-time African Nigeria, especially after their lukewarm performance in the first leg.

Nonetheless, Randy Waldrum’s ladies will be looking to return to their best and beat Ethiopia convincingly because of the gulf in quality. Also, Nigeria are under pressure because they have not qualified for the Olympics since Beijing 2008.

If the Super Falcons win the game at the MKO Abiola Stadium, they will play the winner of the game between Cameroon and Uganda. The Indomitable Lionesses are favourites to win, but they must overturn a two-goal deficit in the second leg.
