Three Super Eagles stars were in action, but Onyekuru’s brilliance was the decider in the end
Super Eagles forward Godwin Saviour scored for Al Akhdoud, but Henry Onyekuru’s goal and assist was enough to steal a 2-1 win for Al Feiha, Soccernet reports.
Three Nigerian players clashed when Al Akhdoud welcomed Al Feiha to the Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in Medina. While Onyekuru and Anthony Nwakaeme were in Al Feiha colours, Saviour was at the other end for Al Akhdoud.
The first half was quite eventful, with both teams registering a combined 13 goal attempts. The attempts resulted in goals, as Onyekuru scored the opener in the 29th minute.
However, Saviour responded just seconds before the break to make it 1-1 and set up a thrilling second half.
Al Akhdoud gave a tough fight in the second half, but they conceded again midway into the half, and Onyekuru’s hand was in it again.
The 26-year-old forward set up Zambian star Fashion Sakala nicely with a pass in the box, and he made no mistake, finishing with aplomb to put the visitors ahead.
Saviour could not respond for the home side, and he was eventually taken off for Mourad Khodari in the 73rd minute. Meanwhile, Nwakaeme saw out the entire 90 minutes while Onyekuru was taken off in stoppage time.
