Former Germany international forward Nils Petersen has lauded the duo of Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface, who moved to Bayer Leverkusen from Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise this summer, has been a standout performer in Germany.
With seven goals and three assists, he has been a driving force behind Leverkusen’s top spot in the Bundesliga, earning the Bundesliga Player of the Month title in August.
Meanwhile, Guirassy clinched the best player award in the league for September, with the Guinean striker now boasting 13 goals in only seven matches.
Despite their stellar performances, Petersen does not foresee Guirassy or Boniface finishing the season as the Bundesliga top scorer.
In Petersen’s estimation, Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane is the one to watch.
“It is so incredibly difficult to defend against these two strikers at the moment. You also can’t keep them at a distance because they’ll shoot through your legs,” Petersen told Kicker, as per MZ, highlighting the challenges posed by the two young talents.
Reflecting on Guirassy’s form, Petersen acknowledged,
“His quota is just brutal. He probably won’t be able to maintain that, but his achievements aren’t just a snapshot either.”
Equally impressed with Boniface, he noted, “It’s incredibly strong with him how he evades the closest challenges.”
Concluding his assessment, Petersen remains confident in Kane’s ability to seize the top scorer title.
“I think he can score 30 goals or more. If he had played a little more selfishly, there would have been more goals in his account. But he accepts Bayern’s current game,” remarked Petersen.
Boniface will look to catch up with Kane, who is on eight goals, when Bayer Leverkusen trade tackles with Wolfsburg today.
