EPL: Haaland at the double at Old Trafford to give City back to back wins

Erling Braut Haaland scored thirty-six league goals for Pep Guardiola’s treble winning side, also winning the European golden shoe.

Norwegian top gun, Erling Braut Haaland, scored two goals to bag the Manchester bragging rights at Old Trafford, Soccernet.ng reports.

Pep Guardiola’s men lost to Arsenal a few weeks ago through a late Martinelli strike, but a win against Brighton brought them back on track in huge anticipation of the Manchester derby.

Erik Ten Haag started Diego Dalot and Victor Lindelof at full-back positions, with Amrabat and Scott McTominay pairing in midfield in a bid to contain City’s deadly attack.

Rasmus Hojlund was penalized after wrapping his arm around Rodri. Paul Tierney walked to the VAR to confirm his decision and awarded Onana a yellow card for wasting time before the penalty was taken.

Last season’s golden boot winner, Erling Haaland stepped up and scored the penalty in front of the Stretford End to give City the lead.

Scott McTominay came close to levelling the score for the hosts after a volleyed shot from him was parried by Ederson Moraes, keeping his clean sheet intact.

Four minutes into the second half, Haaland doubled City’s lead. A long ball from Bernardo Silva found Jack Grealish on the left flank, and the ex-Villa man found Erling in acres of space, and the 22-year-old headed home to give Pep’s men their second.

Haaland turned provider for the third goal. Grealish drew Diogo Dalot out, and fed the ball to Rodri, who shot at Onana. The Cameroonian parried the ball into the path of Haaland, who passed it up to Foden to secure all three points for Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s men March into third position after today’s win, level on points with Arsenal, and two behind Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham Hotspur.
