El Clasico: Bellingham takes centre stage in Madrid win with two goals

Jude Bellingham moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2020 and, since then, has been nominated for the Golden Boy Award three times.

Golden Boy award nominee, Jude Bellingham scored a brace at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company to defeat Barcelona, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been in fine form for Los Blancos this season, scoring eleven goals in a new role, but was a doubt for the mouthful clash between the two Spanish Champions.

With both teams in great form, Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring for La Blaugrana six minutes into the game.

The ex-city midfielder ran freely into the Madrid defence and placed his shot into the bottom corner of the goal, leaving Kepa with no chance.

Pure entertainment and end-to-end football were on display for fans of both teams, and even the neutrals to take in, before Jude Bellingham equalised for Madrid just before the seventy-minute mark.

The ball fell kindly for the Birmingham-born midfielder after a Vinicius cross was blocked by the Barça defence. Bellingham picked up the ball from almost thirty yards out and swept it into the goalkeeper’s top corner.

With ninety wrapped up, two minutes into additional time, Bellingham came up with the winner. A Dani Carvajal cross found Modric in the box, but the advanced midfielder mistimed his control, allowing the ball to fall kindly to Bellingham, who tapped it home.

The game hoisted a lot of landmarks. It was Carlo Ancelloti’s 250th game in charge of Madrid, Vinícius Júnior’s 150th victory in a Madrid shirt, and Luka Modrić’s 500th game for the 14-time UCL Champions.

Bellingham’s goal sent Madrid to the top of the league, although they’re level on points with Girona.
