Ballon d’Or: Napoli, Awoniyi, Ndidi, Balogun, others congratulate Osimhen on top ten finish

Napoli won the Scudetto for the first time in over three decades after a fully fit Osimhen led the line for the Gli Azzurri by scoring goals.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has been showered with congratulations from his team, fellow players, and fans, following his remarkable top-ten finish in the Ballon d’Or rankings, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old delivered an exceptional individual and club performance last season, netting twenty-six goals in the league, which propelled Napoli to their first Serie A title in over three decades.

Osimhen, forming a potent partnership with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia in attack, guided Napoli to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately, an injury to Osimhen forced Gli Azzuri out of the tournament.

His impressive displays earned him nominations for the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best Award. Osimhen secured the 8th position in the France Football Ballon d’Or rankings, making him the first Nigerian to feature among the top-ten footballers in the world.

Messages of congratulations poured in from fans, clubs, and his teammates worldwide, lauding the Super Eagles star for his remarkable achievement.

Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, took to his Instagram story to celebrate Osimhen, and Genk’s Toluwalase Arokodare echoed the sentiment, labeling Osimhen as the greatest he has ever seen.

Red Star Belgrade’s Peter Olayinka and Rangers center-back Leon Balogun extended their congratulations, while Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City expressed his pride in Osimhen for his accomplishments.

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, who secured 17th place in the rankings, was also commended by Napoli, who acknowledged the attacking duo on their official page.
