‘We know what we need to do’ – Ndidi on Leicester City’s ambitions for this season

Wilfred Ndidi has made 9 appearances for Leicester City this season, registering 3 goals and 1assist in all competitions

Wilfred Ndidi has spoken about Leicester City’s excellent early-season form and their ambition going forward as they chase a return to the Premier League at the first attempt, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Foxes have won six of their first seven Sky Bet Championship games, leaving them in second place in the table with 18 points in this early part of the season.

A return to the Premier League at the first attempt is the priority for the King Power outfit having suffered relegation from the top flight for the first time in 9 years at the end of last season.

Ndidi, who has been one of Leicester City’s standout players this early season, has talked about how the togetherness in the team has helped them so far, and that they are not looking ahead of themselves in their pursuit of a return to the Premier League at the end of this season.

If you have a look at the team, the way we play, and also the guys on the bench, we’re all together, the Nigerian International said to Leicester City’s website

In their pursuit to claim one of the two automatic promotion places at the end campaign, Leicester will face another serious test of their mettle against Bristol City on Saturday, and Ndidi has revealed that he and his teammates know what they need to do in their chase to accomplish their ambition this season starting from this weekend.

It’s going to be a tough game, he added.

Everyone wants points against us because we are on a good run. We don’t focus on being a team people want to beat. We just know what we need to do. We know we have to try and win games. There’s so many of them so everybody is ready. The guys who are starting, the guys who are coming on, the guys who are not playing, everybody is together. We are level-headed.

There is no guarantee we are going to win games, there will be ups and downs. We will keep working and stick to the manager’s philosophy.

Ndidi has started the season in good shape, having been involved in every single game the 2016 Premier League champions have played this new season, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist from his 9 appearances.

He played for 81 minutes in his country Nigeria’s 6-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe in their final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in the last international break.
