Asisat Oshoala has recently been nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or women’s award following her outstanding performance for her club and her country

Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, has not only dazzled on the football field but also showcased her remarkable fluency in the Spanish language, leaving Nigerian fans in awe, Soccernet.ng reports.

Since her move to Barcelona Femini in 2019, Oshoala has become an integral part of the Spanish giants, contributing significantly to their success.

A video circulating on social media has captured the moment Oshoala delivered a speech to Barcelona Femini fans during a victory parade.

The Ballon d’Or nominee’s eloquence in Spanish has surprised many Nigerian football enthusiasts, highlighting her linguistic talents.

Oshoala’s brilliance extends beyond her linguistic abilities, she has been in phenomenal form since joining the Spanish club scoring 20 goals in the 2021-22 Liga F season campaign and 21 goals in the 2022-23 season.

Her outstanding performances have earned her a nomination for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or, a recognition of her excellence in the sport.

Notably, Oshoala played a key role in the Super Falcons’ journey to the round of 16 in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, by scoring a goal against Australia, and where  Randy Waldrum’s troops were narrowly defeated by runners-up England in a penalty shootout.

As the new campaign gets underway, Oshoala has reunited with her teammates, ready to continue her impressive journey.

The 28-year-old has already clinched four women’s league titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies with Barcelona.

Additionally, she boasts four African Women’s Player of the Year awards, underlining her exceptional career achievements.

  • A very good achievement for Asisat Oshoala. She has truly enjoyed a remarkable club career and perhaps all she could in international football. But the time is now to start grooming a deadly striker for Nigeria that can be helped with Oshoalas experience.
