WATCH: Osimhen bags haul as Nigeria demolish Sao Tome and Principe in first leg of AFCON Qualifier

The Super Eagles take on Sao Tome and Principe next week, and they would be looking to replicate the performance from the first leg

The Super Eagles will play Sao Tome and Principe in the return leg of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on the 10th of September.

Soccernet reports that the game is scheduled to hold at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. The Super Eagles are overwhelming favourites heading into the clash as they sit on top of the group with 12 points after five games, while Sao Tome are rock bottom with just one point after five games.

Nigeria have already sealed their ticket to Ivory Coast and sit at the summit of Group A, but Guinea Bissau could still topple them if they beat Sierra Leone and the Super Eagles lose.

However, that is unlikely as Sao Tome and Principe gulped in ten goals with Osimhen getting a haul when both teams met in the first leg.

What to expect in the second leg

Unlike the first leg, there may be less goals. Part of the reason for this is is because of the quality of the turf. Although decent, the Godswill Akpabio Stadium is nothing close to the Stade Adrar in Agadir where the first leg was played. And the Super Eagles have been notorious for struggling whenever they don’t play on standard pitches.

Nonetheless, a victory is almost certain for the Super Eagles because of the gulf in quality between both teams.
