Taiwo Awoniyi has started the new season for Nottingham Forest in impressive form, registering 3 goals and 1 assist in four Premier League games
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest update on Taiwo Awoniyi’s future at Nottingham Forest after recent reports linking him with a move to Chelsea, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old has started the new season with a bang for Nottingham Forest, registering 3 goals and 1 assist from the four Premier League games he has played so far this season.
His early-season form has followed from where he left off in the last campaign when his 10 league goals hugely contributed to Forest’s Premier League status.
Despite his impressive form at the club, Forest made it through the summer transfer window without having to fend off any offers for Awoniyi.
However, there were recent reports that Chelsea made a last-ditch effort to sign the Nigerian forward a few days before the end of the summer transfer window.
But Romano has revealed that no offer was submitted for the Nigerian forward during the transfer window.
I’m not aware of any club being involved in any concrete talks for Taiwo Awoniyi at this stage, but for sure he’s appreciated by the people at Nottingham Forest.
He is enjoying some superb form at the club at the moment, he’s obviously a very good player and they believe that he still has the potential to get better and better in the future.
So an exciting player with a good future ahead, but Forest didn’t receive any bids for services in August as far as I am concerned, Romano revealed in his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside
The £17m spent on Awoniyi in June 2022 now looks like a bargain, considering how prolific the Nigerian has been in the Premier League, and he’ll no doubt continue to be a crucial figure for the Reds throughout the current campaign.
As a result of his form, the former Union Berlin striker has been nominated for Premier League Player of the Month for August.
