Osayi-Samuel celebrates first Fenerbahce goal with Okocha-like dance

The Super Eagles defender has not scored a goal for Fenerbahce since November last year, but he got on the scoresheet again on Sunday

Super Eagles defender Osayi-Samuel scored his first goal of the season for Fenerbahçe on Saturday, and he celebrated with an Okocha-like dance, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osayi-Samuel was a peripheral figure at Fenerbahçe last season, making 23 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig. While Jorge Jesus was the coach.

However, his fortunes have improved since Ismail Kartal took charge of the team this season. He has started two of Fenerbahçe’s three games in the Turkish top-flight.

On Saturday, the 25-year-old right-winger finally got his first goal of the season in Fenerbahçe’s 1-0 win over Ankaragucu. After scoring his goal, he went to the corner flag to celebrate with a dance.

Okocha made his dance moves famous during his time at Fenerbahçe, creating a form of amusement for the fans.

Fenerbahçe have been head and shoulders above other clubs in the Süper Lig this season. Thanks to Osayi-Samuel, their win against Ankaragucu was their third in a row, and it ensures that they comfortably sit at the league’s summit.

Osayi-Samuel has been decent in recent weeks, but did not make Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers against São Tomé and Príncipe next week. If he can continue with his rich form, he will be in serious contention to make the squad to Ivory Coast next year.

  • Osayi-Samuel this season has been amazing! he's come back from injury with a bang! amazing performance vs Twente and now Anakaragucu. The new head coach (also the former head coach) prefers Osayi-Samuel over Mert and he has disappointed the coach or the fans. Fenerbahce loves the naija boys: Uche, JJ and Osayi!
