Nigerian players abroad: Simon, Tanko, Ayinde, Ujah, Abiama, Eze, Okuola, paint Europe with goals

Soccernet.ng highlights some of the best performances of Nigerian stars in Europe and South America on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

James Ayinde scored his second goal in three games for Lushnja in Albania’s 1st Division, helping them win 0-2 against Burreli.

Abdullahi Tanko scored for Banik Ostrava in the Czech Republic, securing a commanding 5-1 victory over FC Fastav Zlin in a Fortuna Liga matchday nine clash.

In Ecuador’s Liga Pro, Jimmy Evans scored a goal for Mushuc Runa, but they lost 1-3 to Emelec.

In the Premier League, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina featured for Nottingham Forest as they lost 2-0 to ten-man Manchester City.

In the Championship, Kelechi Iheanacho played, and Wilfred Ndidi won the penalty that Jamie Vardy converted to give Leicester City a narrow 1-0 win, moving them to the top of the league table.

In Ligue 1, Moses Simon’s excellent performance helped Nantes secure a 5-3 home victory over FC Lorient. Simon scored a stoppage-time penalty and provided two assists.

In Italy, Samuel Chukwueze was an unused substitute, and Michael Folorunsho played for Hellas Verona, but they lost 1-0 to AC Milan.

In the German 2. Bundesliga, Greuther Fürth defeated Karlsruhe 4-3, with Dickson Abiama scoring twice for Fürth.

Anthony Ujah played a key role for Eintracht Braunschweig, scoring twice and creating three chances in their thrilling 2-2 draw with FC Nuremberg.

Over to Israel, where Hapoel Petah Tikva won 1-0 against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, with Fortune Bassey providing the assist.

In the Serbian Super Liga, Patrick Eze was the hero for Mladost Lučani in their 2-0 win over Novi Pazar, scoring both goals.

In Slovakia’s Super Liga, Lekan Okunola came off the bench to score a goal and provide an assist in Podbrezová’s 5-1 win over Zemplín Michalovce.

Azeez Yusuf scored two goals for Skövde AIK in their 5-1 win over Östersunds FK in the Swedish Superrettan. 

Emmanuel Igbonekwu scored the only goal for Olympic in their 1-0 victory over Ängelholm in the Ettan.

In the Turkish Super Lig, Emmanuel Dennis could not find the net for Istanbul Basaksehir as they lost 1-2 at home to Galatasaray.

Ibrahim Olawoyin provided the key assist for Rizespor’s equalizer in their 1-1 draw with Sivasspor at the Caykur Didi Stadyumu.

In Ukraine’s Premier League, Muyiwa Benito assisted Dinamo Kiev’s last goal in their thrilling 4-2 away win over LNZ Cherkasy.
