Ndidi shortlisted alongside Premier League stars in Bayern Munich’s top targets for new defensive midfielder

Ndidi has started the new season for Leicester City in impressive form, registering 3 goals and 1 assist in 8 games in all competitions

Bayern Munich are still exploring the possibility of signing Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi after a recent report suggests that the 26-year-old has been shortlisted among their top targets for a new defensive midfielder ahead of the winter 2024 transfer window, Soccernet. ng reports.

Bayern Munich were initially close to signing Palhniha from Fulham on the summer transfer window deadline day, but the deal fell through in the last minute after Fulham had earlier on the day failed to reach an agreement with Manchester United for Scott Mctominay to replace Palhniha at the Craven Cottage.

On Thursday, the Bavarians were dealt a further blow after Palhninha unexpectedly extended his contract with Fulham until 2028 plus the option of another season.

The extension will come with Fulham asking for a higher transfer fee if Bayern were to return for him in the next transfer transfer window.

There is still clear evidence Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel wants a new defensive midfielder to his squad but with Palhinha’s recent commitment to Fulham, they have reportedly shortlisted Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi alongside Nottingham Forest’s new signing  Ibrahim Sangare, Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, and Manchester United’s Scott Mctominay as alternatives, as reported by Fussballtransfers

Ndidi was heavily linked with a move from Leicester City this summer after the club suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season.

Earlier reports suggested that Ndidi would like to work with Tuchel and is open to a move to the Bundesliga champions.

The Nigerian midfielder has less than a year left on his contract and it remains to be seen if Leicester will cash in on him in the January 2024 window or if they will see him leave as a free agent next summer.

He seems to have so far not been deterred by constant speculation surrounding his future as evidenced by his impressive start to the season. Ndidi has scored 3 goals and 1 assist from 8 games in all competitions so far this season.
