Cyriel Dessers has had a slow start to his career for Rangers, registering 3 goals and 1 assist in all competitions
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has vowed to keep going despite witnessing a slow start to his career for Rangers, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 28-year-old joined Rangers this summer with high expectations after two good years at Feyernood and Cremonse.
But the Nigerian International has failed to hit the ground running at the Ibrox Stadium, going blank in his first five games of the Premiership.
Dessers has come under huge criticism from fans and pundits for his uninspiring start to his career for the 55-time Scottish champions.
Rangers boss, Micheal Beale had to drop him for their league trip to St Johnstone after the international break and was only given 3 minutes of their Europa League 1-0 victory over Real Betis last Thursday.
However, he was able to open his league account of the season on Sunday when his goal helped Rangers record a 1-0 victory over Motherwell, bringing them four points adrift of champions Celtic.
Having made a return to manager Michael Beale’s starting lineup on Sunday, Dessers is desperate to stake a claim for a regular place. He vowed that he would keep trying hard to turn his luck around at the Ibrox Stadium.
He said: I work hard every day and I will keep pushing and keep working, the Nigerian forward was quoted as saying by Daily Record
I will wait for my moment and when my moment is there I will show it on the pitch. It’s all about that in football.
I am sure I will play my part and make my goals because I know you have to take your chances. It’s part of being in a big club, I have experience at Feyenoord. I am used to this. I am not giving up, in fact I will push harder. That will be good for the players playing right now and also for myself. We push each other.
The 28-year-old has made 11 appearances for Rangers in all competitions since his summer move, registering 3 goals and an assist.
