‘It’s my dream’- Ex-Leicester and CSKA Moscow star predicts comeback to Peseiro’s Super Eagles squad

Ahmed Musa is the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match, after scoring twice against Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has revealed his intention to return to the Super Eagles squad when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers begin in November, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 30-year-old has been left out of the Eagles squad to face Sao Tome and Principe in their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.

Musa, who has been a regular face on the national team since making his debut 13 years ago, has been finding his place in the team challenging in recent months following his inability to get regular games at the club side.

However, the former Leicester City forward has revealed his intention to make a return to Jose Peseiro’s team for Nigeria’s opening home 2026 World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in November after being left out from the latest squad.

Thank you very much, I appreciate you checking on me, I hope to be back soon for the World Cup qualifiers, Musa said as reported by Punch Sports Extra

Having represented the country in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, he became the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match, after scoring twice against Argentina before following it up with another brace against Iceland in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.

He has now revealed his ambition to play in the next World Cup in 2026 which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, and also believes the current squad being led by Peseiro has the determination to make it the showpiece after Nigeria failed to qualify for the last year’s edition hosted in Qatar.

It’s my dream to play in another World Cup. I believe we have a squad that is equally determined to qualify.

Musa has more than 100 caps for Nigeria having made his debut in a qualification match for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations against Madagascar, coming on as a substitute for John Mikel Obi in a 2-0 win.

He has scored 16 goals for the Super Eagles and was part of the 2013 AFCON winning squad in South Africa under late coach Stephen Keshi.

  • YOUR TIME IS UP. YOU ARE NOT CONSISTENT ON THE FIELD OF PLAY..
GIVE CHANCE TO GIFT ORBAN, LOOKMAN, AKPOM, DESSERS

  • You can only came back if the coach is stupid enough to allow your godfathers in NFF to impose you on him. Otherwise, you do not have any business in the team anymore. We appreciate your service in the good old days, but at this point, you are becoming a nuisance in the team.
