Former Hertha BSC coach delighted to see Jordan Torunarigha training with Super Eagles

Jordan Torunarigha recently received a call up to don the jersey of the Super Eagles after recently declaring his intention to play for Nigeria

Former Nigeria international player, Ojokojo Torunarigha, has shared his excitement regarding his son, Jordan Torunarigha’s call-up to the Super Eagles, Soccernet.ng reports.

The KAA Gent defender, who previously represented Germany at the youth level, recently received his first call-up to the Super Eagles after expressing his desire to play for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champions.

In a video interview conducted by Tobi Adepoju, the former Hertha BSC coach expressed his joy at seeing his son, Jordan, proudly representing his home country.

During the interview, he also conversed in Yoruba, showcasing his cultural roots and his children’s understanding of the Yoruba language.

Jordan Torunarigha, the Super Eagles’ newcomer, has expressed his eagerness to prove himself if given the opportunity to play in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo on Sunday.

He stated, “This is my first call-up, and I hope I will be given the chance to show the fans, who have criticized me for not representing Nigeria earlier, what I am capable of. I am a young player, and I want to demonstrate to Nigerians what I can bring to the team.”

With Nigeria’s qualification for the continental showpiece in Ivory Coast next year already secured after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone in the last match, the 63-year-old Jose Peseiro aims to use the game as an opportunity for new invitees to showcase their abilities and begin building his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
