‘Don’t believe everything’– Jadon Sancho hits back at Erik Ten Hag on training performance

Left out of the squad, and told his training isn’t impressive to get a starting berth, Jadon Sancho hits back at Ten Hag.

Ex-Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho has hit back at the post-match reports of Manchester United’s manager, Erik Ten Hag, after the coach claimed Sancho wasn’t impressive in training, Soccernet.ng reports.

The winger was left at home and wasn’t included in the squad to make the trip to The Emirates Stadium for their Sunday clash against Arsenal, and with no prior injury reports, his absence raised a few eyebrows, and after the loss to the Gunners, Erik Ten Hag explained why Sancho was omitted.

Ten Hag readily shared that Sancho failed to meet his standards on the training pitch, and as such, he wasn’t fit enough to be in the squad. The fifty-three-year-old tactician has used the Englishman as a substitute in the previous three games, with Sancho accruing just seventy-six minutes of football this season. According to Express.co.uk, the coach said;

“We didn’t select him based on training performance. You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. That’s why in this game he wasn’t selected.”

The coach’s first choice player to start on the right wing is Antony, and the decision has been questioned by fans and pundits after continuous shambolic displays from the Brazilian. Apart from Antony, Facundo Pellistri and Jadon Sancho are other options on the right flank but have barely gotten any playing time so far.

Sancho, who cost £73million in 2021 and checks home a reported £350,000 a week, has not lived up to his price tag so far, and just two hours after the final whistle, responded to the manager’s comments about him on X(formerly called Twitter) writing: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue.”

The twenty-three-year-old feels unfairly treated and claims all he wants to do is just play football and help his team.
“I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!”
With the public response from Jadon, it is yet to be seen if there will be any punishment from the club or a public apology statement released.
However, it is increasingly likely that Sancho’s days at Manchester United are coming to an end if he doesn’t hit a run of good form very soon.
