Blast from the past: Viral photo of Boniface and Osimhen fuels excitement ahead of São Tomé clash

New Super Eagles invitee, Victor Boniface, has recently linked up with 2023 Ballon d’Or nominee, Victor Osimhen

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen and Super Eagles invitee Victor Boniface have been captured in an old photo, igniting nostalgia and excitement within the Nigerian football community, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface, who has been in superb form in the Jupiler Pro League for Union SG, garnered the attention of Bayer Leverkusen, who secured his services for approximately €20.50 million.

Maintaining his impressive performance under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, Boniface has scored four goals in three Bundesliga appearances. As a result, he received an international call-up to join Jose Peseiro’s squad for the upcoming clash against São Tomé and Principe.

A video recently emerged showing Osimhen and Boniface together in the Super Eagles squad, alongside an old picture of the two forwards from their time in an U-17 camp.

This heartwarming visual has stirred emotions in the Nigerian football community, serving as a reminder of how swiftly time has passed since their youth.

Both players are currently making waves in European football, with Boniface receiving a top scorer award in the UEFA Europa League, and Osimhen securing a nomination for the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

Now, these two stars are expected to bring their outstanding form to the Super Eagles team, aiming to propel Peseiro’s men to victory in the final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification tie against São Tomé.
