Best in Europe: New Super Eagles invitee rated above Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Man City stars

The Nigerian forward is turning into a sensational revelation in the German top flight after a string of excellent showings

Victor Boniface has earned the second-best rating of any player in the top five leagues in Europe, Soccernet.ng reports.

Renowned statistical website Whoscored gave the Bayer Leverkusen striker a rating of 9.7 after his brilliant display against Darmstadt on Saturday.

Boniface scored two goals – for the second successive game – and added an assist to lead Leverkusen to a 5-1 win over the visitors to the BayerArena.

The 22-year-old forward’s second goal, a beautiful solo effort, has also been named among the best five goals in the Bundesliga this week.

Statistically, only Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, with a 10.0 rating, bettered Boniface’s performance across the leagues in England, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain.

Barcelona’s Jules Kounde (8.8), Manchester City’s Nathan Ake (7.9), Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich (8.8), and Tottenham’s duo of Manor Solomon (9.0) and James Maddison all made Europe’s best 11.

In his first three league matches in Germany, Boniface has six goal involvements (four goals and two assists), the most in the top flight.

The former Union Saint-Gilloise forward is one of the biggest reasons Bayer Leverkusen have won all their three games and sit top of the Bundesliga.

Boniface’s brilliance was rewarded after being named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe. It is his first Super Eagles call-up.
