Osimhen bounced back from the controversial issue with a goal against Udinese, but it is far from over
Italian journalist Marika Fruscio has criticised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for deleting the Napoli-related posts on his Instagram page, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen has been in the spotlight for the last two days following a video Napoli posted on their TikTok account to mock his penalty miss against Bologna on Sunday.
The post was then deleted, but the damage had already been done. And it has sparked a lot of controversy since Tuesday. Osimhen deleted all Napoli-related posts from his Instagram account.
Afterwards, a video surfaced of the 24-year-old snubbing his teammates on his way to a Napoli facility. There have been talks that the issue could make Osimhen force a move away from Napoli in January or next summer.
However, Italian sports journalist Fruscio is not on Osimhen’s side. She sees it as a trivial issue and believes he reacted to the situation wrongly.
“You’re a champion, but it takes humility. What’s the use of deleting the photos of the team that worshipped and supported you,” Fruscio wrote on Instagram.
“What’s the point of flirting like this?? Even legal action for a sarcastic video? An intelligent man would have laughed at it.
“Be the professional. Head down and work. It’s our fault anyway that we make these players almost gods… Just the shirt, just the shirt.”
Despite the saga, the Nigeria international was included in Napoli’s lineup for their Serie A game against Udinese on Wednesday at the Diego Maradona Stadium. He still performed well and scored for the league champions to help them win 4-1.
