AFCONQ: AC Milan star tips Super Eagles to score more than ten goals past Sao Tome and Principe

The three-time African champions face one of the continent’s minnows in what is expected to be a one-sided affair

In the buildup to their final group qualifying game for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Samuel Chukwueze has expressed the Super Eagles’ determination to secure another resounding victory against Sao Tome and Principe, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria forced a 10-0 loss down the throat of Sao Tome and Principe when they met on matchday two of the qualifiers in June 2022.

Victor Osimhen played a pivotal role in that match, contributing six goals, including four goals and two assists.

Osimhen, who has been in fine form with three goals in three Serie A games this season for Napoli, is again in the Nigerian squad alongside other exciting forwards.

Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award winner Victor Boniface, Gent’s Gift Orban, and Premier League Player of the Month nominee Taiwo Awoniyi have been invited to bolster the Super Eagles’ attacking lineup.

This offensive prowess positions Jose Peseiro’s side as the clear favourites to dominate Sao Tome and Principe again in their upcoming encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, this Sunday.

While Chukwueze acknowledges the opposition’s presence, he remains confident in his team’s capabilities.

The AC Milan winger acknowledges the need for respect but aims for an even more impressive performance.

“We defeated them 10-0 the last time we met, and it will be nice to go higher than that this time around,” Chukwueze told Complete Sports

However, he also emphasized the importance of respecting their opponents, recognizing that Sao Tome and Principe would be eager to avoid a repeat of the previous defeat.

Chukwueze emphasized the significance of keeping the fans satisfied as they anticipate another commanding victory. He expressed the team’s commitment to delivering a performance that meets expectations and ensures fan satisfaction.

Nigeria last won the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 2013.
