Watch: Video of Barcelona Femeni forward Oshoala ‘training in Mushin’ with Atletico Madrid jersey goes viral

With her goal against Australia in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Asisat Oshoala became the first player from Africa to score in three different tournaments

Super Falcons and Barcelona Femeni forward, Asisat Oshoala, was recently seen training in Lagos suburb Mushin following the World Cup exit, Soccernet.ng reports.

Despite the Nigerian international’s goal-scoring performance for the Super Falcons and her individual accomplishments during the tournament, she appeared sombre and focused on regrouping after the World Cup disappointment.

Under Randy Waldrum’s guidance, the team had a commendable World Cup campaign, remaining undefeated in Group B alongside Olympic champions Canada, World Cup co-hosts Australia, and resolute World Cup debutants Ireland. The team advanced from the group stage to face England.

Unfortunately, a penalty in the match against England, following a draw in regular and extra time, led to the defeat of the nine-time Women Africa Cup of Nations champions.

Oshoala, who had returned to Nigeria from Australia, was observed training at a local field in Mushin, a location at the crossroads of roads from Lagos, Shomolu, and Ikeja.

In the video, she was seen wearing a number 19 jersey, usually worn by French international Aïssatou Tounkara, who is also a teammate of Rasheedat Ajibade. Oshoala paired the jersey with her Barcelona shorts.

The video’s caption stated, “Asisat Oshoala had a training session in Mushin as she worked to recover from the World Cup heartbreak.”

Reports indicated that she may have swapped jerseys with the defender during one of their Liga F matches in Spain.

Furthermore, the video depicted the Lagos-born striker engaging in conversation with some women who were also dressed in Nigerian training kits.

Barcelona Femeni is yet to resume playing matches since their UEFA Women’s Champions League encounter with Wolfsburg. They are scheduled to begin their preseason games against Montpellier next week.
