Super Eagles and Bolton Wanderers legend Okocha to visit Nairobi with Premier League trophy

Nigerian legend Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha is scheduled for an exclusive appearance in Nairobi, Kenya, alongside the coveted English Premier League trophy, Soccernet.ng reports.

Widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest-ever players, Okocha’s visit is highly anticipated in Kenya.

Okocha, who turned 50 recently, left an indelible mark on the sport through his standout performances in the 1994, 1998, and 2002 World Cup editions, as well as with the Dream Team at the 1996 Olympic Games.

His Premier League stint with Bolton Wanderers, following a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain in 2002, solidified his reputation as a football maestro.

According to Premier League records, Okocha featured in 124 matches, netting 14 goals and bagging 11 assists during his time in the league.

The midfield maestro was named BBC Player of the Year twice.

With an ardent following across Africa, Jay-Jay Okocha has been chosen as the designated legend to bring the prestigious Premier League trophy to Nairobi, as per Nairobi News

The exclusive viewing event is scheduled to run from September 1 to September 2, 2023.

The pinnacle of this event will transpire on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Carnivore Grounds. Fans can attend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., ensuring a full day of football excitement.

In a statement released by Castrol, the official partner of the Premier League, they expressed their intent to forge a deeper connection between fans and the league through this event.

“This event promises to give fans an exclusive opportunity to witness the cherished Premier League Trophy, connecting them more closely with the League,” stated the press release.
