Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi have been heavily linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium since the start of the transfer window
Super Eagles duo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, were in action to help Leicester City claim a 1-2 away victory over Rotterdam United in their league fixture on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Both Nigeria Internationals have been heavily linked with a move from the King Power Stadium following Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League last term, but they have since been an integral part of the team, appearing in all their matches so far this season.
Kasey McAteer gave Leicester City the perfect start just twelve minutes into the game after meeting Kelechi Iheanacho’s cross from the left flank.
The Foxes took control of the game thereafter but failed to convert their chances leaving them with just a goal ahead at the interval.
Just eight minutes into the second half, Fred Onyedinma leaped highest to head the ball home beyond keeper Mads Hermansen to draw Rotterdam back leveled.
Iheancho, however, was substituted for Jamie Vardy in the 59th minute before his compatriot Ndidi was also replaced by a new loanee from Chelsea Cesare Casadei with twenty-two minutes left to play.
McAteer once again proved heroic with a sublime effort from the right flank, thumping an effort into the left top corner to give Enzo Maresca’s side back the lead in the 75th minute.
Leicester City held on to claim an important victory at the Aesseal New York City Stadium, ensuring they have now recorded four league wins at the start of an English league season for the first time in their history.
Iheanacho and Ndidi’s situation at the King Power Stadium remains unclear whether they will both remain at the club before the end of the transfer window, following constant speculation linking them with the move from the club.
They have been the subject of interest from the Premier League and clubs in the top leagues in Europe.
Both Super Eagles stars will be looking forward to being called up for Nigeria’s match against Sao Tome and Principe in the country’s last Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture early next month.
