Picture: Nigerian artiste Davido takes on Ronaldo’s iconic jersey number at Manchester United

The Manchester United number 7 shirt has been labelled as an iconic shirt worn by several football legends, and was popularly won by Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona

Nigerian music sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has caused a stir by showcasing the famed number 7 jersey at Manchester United, Soccernet.ng reports.

In a post shared by the official social media account of the 2012-13 Premier League champions, Davido was captured during his visit to the historic Old Trafford stadium. The artiste proudly held up his new Manchester United jersey, imprinted with his name and the iconic jersey number 7.

The number 7 shirt has been synonymous with legendary players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, Edinson Cavani, and most recently, Mason Mount, who recently joined the club from Chelsea FC.

This trend of celebrities paying visits to Manchester United continues, with stars such as Falz the Bad Guy and Adekunle Gold having previously visited the club. Davido’s visit is another addition to this list, as he explores the storied Theatre of Dreams.

Earlier this year, fellow Nigerian artist Wizkid, whose real name is Ayo Balogun, hosted a show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The official Manchester United page hinted that Davido might soon follow suit by holding a show in Manchester.

The club’s official page posted, “Quick visit to see @Davido with his new United shirt… See you in Manchester for the #PFAawards and your shows soon.”

Davido’s presence has resonated with fans globally, including at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where his music united supporters from different nations.
