‘Pay them’- Ighalo, Osimhen, Anichebe rally behind Super Falcons over NFF’s payment saga

It has been urged by FIFPRO to make sure that all Super Falcons players receive payment for all bonuses, allowances, and entitlements

Nigeria’s national football players have rallied behind the Super Falcons, urging the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to address the long-standing payment issue, Soccernet.ng reports.

Randy Waldrum and his team have been at odds with the Nigerian football association for unpaid salary, which several legends, like Ian Wright, have urged the federation to pay the ladies given their outstanding performance.

Meanwhile, despite their exit from the tournament following a penalty shootout defeat to England, the Super Falcons’ exceptional dedication and achievement have earned them widespread respect.

However, the players of the Super Falcons find themselves unpaid by the NFF, a situation that has prompted global players’ union FIFPRO to release a statement in solidarity and was shared by Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala.

The statement expressed concern that the players had to advocate for their rightful compensation during a crucial phase of their careers, stating, “It is regrettable that players needed to challenge their own federation at such an important time.”

In a show of unity, their male counterparts from the Super Eagles have stepped forward to support the Super Falcons.

Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, known for his outstanding performances, conveyed his message succinctly on social media: “Pay them NFF,” echoing the sentiments of many.

Former Everton forward, Victor Anichebe, also echoed the sentiment, insisting that the Super Falcons be paid what they are owed.

“NFF pay them! They did us all proud! And even if they didn’t. Pay them what they are owed!!!” he wrote.

Furthermore, Odion Ighalo, a prominent figure in Nigerian football, expressed his concern, stating, “NFF never stop these things.”

This coordinated call to action shows the close ties amongst Nigeria’s national football teams and emphasises the urgent necessity for treating all players fairly and equally.

While the Super Falcons are likely to return to their homeland shortly, football fans and the rest of the globe are waiting to see how the NFF handles the situation.
