Nigerian players abroad: Osimhen brace; Ariyo hat-trick; Boniface, Nwakali, Dessers, Gong shine

Starting off in the Czech Liga, Adeleke Akinyemi came off the bench to net an 84th-minute equaliser for Karviná in their 1 – 1 draw at home to Jablonec.

In England, Calvin Bassey made his Premier League debut for Fulham, but they suffered a heavy 0-3 home defeat to Brentford. Frank Onyeka was an unused substitute for Brentford.

Down to the EFL Championship, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi impressed as Leicester City secured a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Cardiff City, which featured Jamilu Collins.

Paul Mukairu had his League One debut for Reading in their solid 2-0 win over Stevenage.

Over to Finland, where Roosa Funmilayo Ariyo delivered an outstanding hat-trick for KuPS, contributing to their convincing 7-0 win against Ilves in the Kansallinen Liiga.

Akor Adams

In France, Akor Adams continued his impressive form, scoring in the 89th minute as Montpellier sealed a massive 4-1 away victory over Lyon. Adams now boasts three Ligue 1 goals in just two matches.

Moving to Germany, where Victor Boniface made his Bundesliga debut by assisting Bayer Leverkusen’s opening goal in their hard-fought 3-2 home win against title contenders, RB Leipzig.

In Italy, Victor Osimhen, carried on his stellar form from last season by scoring two goals, leading Napoli to a 3-1 away triumph over newly-promoted Frosinone.

Osimhen was the league’s top scorer last season with 26 goals, helping Napoli secure their first Scudetto in 33 years.

Tyronne Ebuehi featured for home team Empoli while Michael Folorunsho finally made his Serie A debut in the colours of Verona as the visitors ran out 0-1 winners.

In Japan’s J2 League, Origbaajo Ismaila’s assist proved crucial in helping Tochigi come from a goal deficit to triumph 1-2 away at V-Varen Nagasaki.

Straight to the J3 League, where Kenneth Otabor was among the goals for Iwate Grulla Morioka in their 2 – 2 draw with Ehime.

In the Moldovan Super Liga, Emmanuel Alaribe netted the second goal Zimbru in their 2 – 0 triumph over Spartanii Selemet.

Over to Portugal, Kelechi Nwakali provided an assist for GD Chaves’s first goal with a beautiful corner kick, but they suffered a disappointing 2-4 home loss to Sporting Braga.

Chidozie Awaziem put up a solid defensive performance, and Bruno Onyemaechi contributed an assist, guiding Boavista to an impressive 4-1 away victory over Portimonense.

Cyriel Dessers

In Scotland, Cyriel Dessers played a crucial role in Rangers’ comeback victory, scoring from the penalty spot and assisting the winner in a 2-1 win in the Scottish League Cup.

Ayo Obileye played a part in Livingston’s clean sheet, while Samson Lawal came on as a second-half substitute as their team advanced to the third round of the Scottish League Cup with a 2-0 victory over Ayr United.

Over to Slovakia, where Hillary Gong had a fantastic evening, scoring a goal and providing two assists as Trenčín dominated Ružomberok in a commanding 4-1 victory.

In the Spanish La Liga, Umar Sadiq continued his comeback to full fitness as he saw 26 minutes of action in Real Sociedad 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo.
