The Super Falcons of Nigeria will play against the Three Lionesses of England in the round of 16 of the 2023 Women’s World Cup

Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has expressed her joyfulness after making her World Cup debut in the team’s goalless draw against the Republic of Ireland in Brisbane on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports

Randy Waldrum’s side will face European champions England for a place in the last-eight of the competition in Brisbane next Monday.

They scaled through their Group B unbeaten following two draws and 1 win on their way to finish second behind co-hosts Australia,  while Canada and Ireland were eliminated.

Monday, who came on to replace Uchenna Kanu in the 67th minute of the keenly contested match against the Irish, has expressed her gladness after getting her first World Cup appearance in the goalless draw.

Such a special feeling finally making my senior @FIFAWWC debut. And I’m more delighted we are in the Round of 16. It means everything, it’s what dreams are made of. I’m speechless! If this is just a dream never wake me up. Beautiful, Monday wrote on her Twitter handle
