“Young but very talented” – Manchester City legend backs Koleosho to excel in the Premier League

The exciting youngster, eligible to play for Nigeria, Italy, Canada, and the United States, can kickstart a massive race for his commitment should he impress in the English top flight

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has expressed strong belief in the abilities of 18-year-old Luca Koleosho to shine in the upcoming English Premier League season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Despite the winger having only made four appearances in La Liga, Kompany is confident in his potential.

Hailing from Connecticut, Koleosho recently switched from Espanyol to Burnley and has already linked up with his new teammates during their training sessions on the Iberian peninsula.

Speaking to the club’s media after a friendly victory against Benfica, Kompany, a legendary figure from his time at Manchester City, had high praise for the young recruit.

“Quick and electric in one-v-one situations,” Kompany said. “We’re a team that has been really successful with players in wide areas, and he is one who can be exciting for fans.

“Young, yes, but very talented.”

The winger’s limited playtime in the Spanish top-flight last season amounted to a mere 55 minutes, but he made his mark by scoring a commendable goal against Almeria on the last matchday.

Notably, Koleosho has represented Italy at the under-19 level, thanks to his Italian-Canadian mother, and contributed to their successful European Championship campaign earlier this summer. However, he remains eligible to play for Nigeria, his father’s birthplace.

Koleosho’s addition further bolsters Burnley’s options in the wide areas following the similar signing of Nathan Redmond. This suggests that the Clarets are keen on capitalising on the wide spaces on the pitch.

Physically, Koleosho stands at 5ft 8in, comparable to Nathan Tella, who had an impressive season with Burnley on loan.
If Koleosho can develop into a natural successor to Tella, it would undoubtedly be a remarkable outcome for the club.

With Kompany’s endorsement, the spotlight will be on the young talent to see if he can live up to the expectations and significantly impact the Premier League.
